The superbubble model for LiBeB production and Galactic evolution
نویسنده
چکیده
We show that the available constraints relating to LiBeB Galactic evolution can be accounted for by the so-called superbubble model, according to which particles are efficiently accelerated inside superbubbles out of a mixture of supernova ejecta and ambient interstellar medium. The corresponding energy spectrum is required to be flat at low energy (in E below 500 MeV/n, say), as expected from Bykov’s acceleration mechanism. The only free parameter is also found to have the value expected from standard SB dynamical evolution models. Our model predicts a slope 1 (primary) and a slope 2 (secondary) behaviour at respectively low and high metallicity, with all intermediate slopes achieved in the transition region, between 10 and 10Z⊙.

Galactic Cosmic Rays from Superbubbles and the Abundances of Lithium, Beryllium, and Boron
In this article we study the galactic evolution of the LiBeB elements within the framework of a detailed model of the chemical evolution of the Galaxy that includes galactic cosmic ray nucleosynthesis by particles accelerated in superbubbles. The chemical composition of the superbubble consists of varying proportions of ISM and freshly supernova synthesized material. The observational trends of...

Abstract. Using a time-dependent Galactic Cosmic Ray flux proportional to the halo Star Formation Rate and including astration and neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis, we have studied the evolution of lithium, beryllium and boron in the halo. Our results set limits to the production of LiBeB by the neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis in massive stars, in order to reproduce the observed constancy of B...
متن کاملSuperbubbles as the source of 6 Li , Be and B in the early Galaxy
We investigate the spallative production of the light elements, Li, Be and B (LiBeB), associated with the evolution of a superbubble (SB) blown by repeated supernovae (SNe) in an OB association. It is shown that if about ten percent of the SN energy can power the acceleration of particles from the material inside the SB, the observed abundances of LiBeB in halo stars, as a function of O, can be...

متن کاملIssues of Libeb, Oxygen and Iron Evolution
The evolution of the light elements, Li, Be, B (LiBeB), is an important ingredient in studies of cosmic evolution. Closely related are the evolutions of O and Fe, because [LiBeB/H] are measured as functions of either [Fe/H] or [O/H]. In several recent papers we treated in detail LiBeB production by cosmic rays, and LiBeB, O and Fe evolution. We emphasized a model in which the cosmic ray source ...
